New Orleans vacation package prices built on a public room figure, before you reserve
All New Orleans vacation package prices on this site are worked out the same way, in the open: the room nights, figured on a published monthly number, plus the classes, suppers or visits each stay names. The quote for your week then replaces every figure with the supplier's own.
The formula
For each stay the office takes the least costly month the stay runs and the federal lodging figure for New Orleans in that month, the per night room amount the federal government publishes for government travel to the city. That figure times the number of nights, split between two people sharing a room, plus the per person cost of what the stay names, rounded up to the next five dollars, is the from-price.
Two stays are built for the weeks when the city fills: the parade season weekend in February and the spring festival weekend. For those, each night is figured at a multiple of the federal figure, 2 and 1.8, because rooms on those weekends are priced far above an ordinary night. The multiples are the office's planning figures and are printed beside the result.
Worked through for one stay
The French Quarter courtyard weekend runs September through May. Its least costly month is January, at $162 a room. Three nights is $486, or $243 each for two people. The named pieces add $95 each. Rounded up, that is $340 per person, $680 for two.

Always inside a from-price
- Every night of the stay, for two sharing a room.
- Any nightly charge the hotel adds to every guest, under whatever name it uses, sits inside the figure, so no charge of the hotel's own lands on top of it later. The exact total for your dates arrives in the quote.
- The classes, suppers, concerts and visits the stay lists.
- The written itinerary.
Always outside it
- Louisiana and New Orleans hotel taxes and the per-room nightly charge set by the state and city, collected by the hotel. The quote shows them in dollars for your dates.
- Travel to New Orleans and back.
- Meals not named, and tips.
- Parking, and fares in the city.
Why a quote can come back higher or lower
The federal figure is a real, published number, but hotels price by the date. A Tuesday in January can come in under it; a Saturday in April usually comes in over. The quote is the price: the hotel's and each operator's figure for your dates, with nothing added by the office. For the months that run lower, see the calendar of room figures; to have the numbers worked out for your own week, ask for a quote through the form on any page.
Paying happens with each supplier when you accept, never on this site. The office is paid by the suppliers' commission, as the page on how a reservation runs explains, and how changes are handled is on the page about canceling or changing a stay.
